Furniture industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of most developed branches with over 200 mil.€ of export. In 2007 growth of production was 26,8% and export of 7,7%.It is one of few industries in Bosnia and Herzegovina which is making suficit in international trade and constantly growing in capacities, number of producers, design, modernisation, etc. There is about 1500 companies in B&H in wood and furniture industry.
Foresting in Bosnia and Herzegovina has great potential and many possibilities for investment. 53 % of the territory is covered by forest. The industry of wood in Bosnia Herzegovina is in a process of rapid development, but expertise, modern equipment and chemicals for wood protection is in great demand. Bosnia-Herzegovina is rich on many types of wood and there are several metal works in the country.  The production of wood and metal has by far exceeded the domestic demand, and now the export of timber and wooden products are close to reach the 25% of the total export from the country, even though the demand is relatively high domestically because of rebuilding after the 90’s conflict (especially windows and doors). The production of furniture in BiH is growing, while sub-production to the furniture industry is dominant sector. Experience and tradition in wood and metal production is relatively high, but also here investments in form of expertise for optimising the production is needed.
